Harold Solomon

Ranked among the greatest U.S. players of all time, Harold Solomon has coached champion players Mary Jo Fernandez, Jim Courier, Jennifer Capriati, Monica Seles and Anna Kournikova, among others. He has coached players in the finals of Grand Slam events and to Gold and Silver medals at the Olympic Games. Harold Solomon won 22 ATP Tour events, qualified for six ATP year-end championships and was ranked as high as number 5 in the world. He was a member of two winning U.S. Davis Cup teams, and is one of a select group of American players to reach the finals at the French Open. Harold Solomon has also served on the board of both the ATP and WTA.

Liam Smith

Liam Smith has extensive experience as a high performance coach at several of the world's major tennis academies. He has coached and traveled the world with ATP and WTA professionals at Tour and  Grand Slam events, as well as worked extensively with and developed young professionals and Elite junior players on the ITF circuit having worked with world number 1 junior players, junior Grand Slam Champions, several Orange Bowl Junior World Champions as well as Davis Cup / Fed Cup Players and National tennis Federations / Associations. Liam Smith also combines his coaching experience with education in the field of sports science, Biomechanics and Athlete Strength & Conditioning.

Tom Downs

Tom has and extensive coaching background, and has been a member of the Institute team for several years. He has served as our Head Staff Professional, and is currently the Traveling Coach for Institute players. He has traveled with several of our Tour players including Laura Granville and Carly Gullickson, who won the US Open Mixed Doubles title in 2009. Tom has worked with junior and other professional players, including Sam Stosur and Rennae Stubbs, at all 4 Grand Slam events, as well as other major tournaments around the world. Tom graduated from the University of South Florida in 2005 with a degree in communications. As a successful junior player, Tom represented Australia, and was consistently ranked in the top 10 in all age groups in Australia. He played college tennis at South Carolina State University and was a member of their conference championship team in 2004.

Mary Ginnard

Mary has been a USPTA Certified Professional 1 since 1980 with extensive playing and coaching experience. In her career she has won four National Singles Titles at the 45's Indoor Championships, 50's Indoor Championships, 50's National Hard Court Championships and 55's National Grass Court Championships; and 17 National Doubles Titles in 45's - 55's Competition. She was a Maria Bueno Cup United States Team Member in 2004 & 2005 and was victorious at World 2007, 2008, 2009 Maureen Connelly Cup Player & Team Member. Mary has held a Top 4 National Ranking in Women's 55's Competition and Number 1 ranking Florida
50's singles 2005. She represented Florida at 4 Intersectional Championships as # 1 Singles Player and was the winner of Worlds Double Title 1999.

Bill Foreman

Bill is a USPTA Certified Professional 1 with 2 decades of experience. Having coached several top nationally ranked Juniors, Bill is currently the Douglas HS Varsity Coach. In that capacity, Bill was named Broward County High School Coach of the Year" for tennis in 2009, the same year in which his girls team was the Regional Champion.
Bill served as a member of the Evert Tennis Academy Coaching Staff from 2005-2007 and competed nationally at over 40's - 45's - 50's and 55's events where he was regularly ranked top 5, Including winning 2 national singles and 2 national doubles titles. Bill played collegiate tennis at Rutgers University, where he was the #1 position & team captain in his Junior & Senior years.

Larry Kashdin

Partner, Business Affairs
Larry Is a former certified public accountant and retired Chief Financial Officer of a New York Stock Exchange listed television broadcasting company. He also served as President of what is now the Sony Ericsson Open, which is often recognized as the "Fifth Grand Slam" of professional tennis. Larry handles all of the Institute's business affairs, including tuition policies. This prevents financial matters from interfering with the special coaching-only relationships Harold and Liam develop with our players and their families, and enables them to devote their full time to coaching.
